U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) never minces words when he talks about health care and the importance of access to primary care. He recently spoke at the dedication of the renovation and expansion of a health center — called The Health Center — in Plainfield, VT. Senator Sanders told the gathering of some 200 health center supporters, “What you’re looking at is the most cost-effective way of delivering quality primary health care in the United States of America.”
The Health Center provides high-quality, affordable and comprehensive health services. Under one roof patients can find medical, dental and behavioral services. The Health Center also has a pharmacy on-site, and will soon be hosting a Ronald McDonald mobile dental service for children and young adults. Dr. John Matthew, The Health Center’s Director, said health center patients “have less emergency room use, less hospital days than expected and less use of specialists.”
