Tennessee Health Center’s Innovation Noted

smilin-girls-copyThese girls are smiling because they’re part of a cool new program that’s winning plaudits for promoting abstinence.  The program, called CHOICES, is run by Christ Community Health Services in Memphis, TN.  It is one of seven abstinence education programs, out of more than 130 nationwide, cited by the Administration for Children and Families as best practices.  CHOICES is the second of two innovative programs  Christ Community started that’s garnering national recognition.  The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality also recognized Christ Community’s Memphis Healthy Churches programs on its Innovations Exchange Web site. The program,  launched in 1998, provides health screenings and health education through African American churches. Read the press release.
