Every once in a while a Member of Congress steps boldly forward and shows he’s doing his homework. Our nod goes to newly minted U.S. Sen. James Webb, who recently issued a press release that smartly shows where he thinks his state and the nation should be investing their dollars when it comes to health care. Webb announced his support for bipartisan legislation that reauthorizes the federal health centers program (S.901), noting, “Located predominately in inner-city and rural communities where health care is scarce, Health Centers provide quality services to over 200,000 Virginians annually who would not otherwise have the means to see a primary care doctor.” The bill is gaining momentum in the Senate, with almost 70 co-sponsors so far.
