Many current and former students are all too familiar with the insurance cap that kicked children off their parents’ insurance generally around the age of 22. Well, luckily for students and parents, young adults will no longer have to worry about how they are going to get their next physical with no insurance.
Thanks to the new Health Reform Bill, as of September 23, 2010, young adults may remain covered by their parents’ health insurance until the age of 26 as long as they are not eligible for another employer-based plan. According to a recent press release, this is especially great news because college students make up for a significant number of those uninsured in America.
Although this new provision provides a great sense of relief for many, students and parents are encouraged to educate themselves on the best solution for their specific situation. Please click to view the entire press release.
