Today, the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services (LHHS) announced their plans to mark up their Fiscal Year (FY) 2015 LHHS bill Tuesday, June 10. Consideration by the full committee is expected shortly thereafter, as soon as Thursday, June 12. It is unclear at this time when the FY2015 LHHS bill may be moved through the full Senate. Senate Appropriations Chair Barbara Mikulski (D-MD) has indicated that in the interest of time, she would like to see FY2015 spending bills bundled together for floor consideration.
It is also unknown when, or if, the House Appropriations Committee will consider their FY2015 LHHS bill. It is possible that we may see the House only release a draft of their bill, a scenario similar to what has been done in recent years.
We will continue to monitor House and Senate appropriations movement. Please stay tuned to Health Centers on the Hill for a more information as it becomes available.
