A nationwide campaign is underway to help reduce medical errors. The Agency for Health Care Research and Quality (AHRQ) of HHS is encouraging patients to become more involved with their own health care so they can help improve quality of care and reduce the likelihood of medical errors. Since Community Health Centers provide health care to so many Americans (16 million) the agency asked us to get the word out. Asking the right questions of your provider is the first step in improving health care. That is why AHRQ has a multimedia web site that is chock full of information, such as 10 questions to ask your provider, as well as fact sheets and other materials aimed at helping patients achieve safer health care. Check it out here.
