Recently, there have been many encouraging stories in health center news. NACHC would like to take a moment to spotlight these stories, which remind us all of why we work so hard to advocate on behalf of community health centers and their underserved populations.
Direct Relief USA reaches out to victims and offers aid to Mississippi in the wake of a devastating tornado. Direct Relief USA asserts that it is prepared to tap its standing inventory to assist as needed. On the opposite coast, Oak Park Community Health Center in Sacramento offers free immunizations to children in celebration of National Infant Immunization Week, while three Kaiser Permanente Southern California Medical Centers perform a total of 67 free outpatient surgeries in recognition of Free Surgery Day. Meanwhile, The GE Foundation awarded five Houston, TX community health centers a total of $1.25 million for the purpose of providing primary care access to more uninsured and underserved communities around the city.
