NACHC P & I is Underway: Notes From the Field about Hill Day

NACHC 2019 Grassroots Awardees, along with NACHC Board Chair Jim Luisi & President and CEO Tom Van Coverden

Leagues of Community Health Center advocates went to Capitol Hill today to press for long-term and stabilized funding, and blow up Twitter with an abundance of posts about their visits. Advocates wore the color blue to identify themselves amid the throngs (a lot of other groups were advocating on the Hill today as well) and came armed with data and fact sheets. It was a long day of walking and meeting with Members of Congress and staff, and making the case for the value of the health center model of care. The reward at the end of the day was coming back to the P & I for a reception, the centerpiece of which is about recognizing the grassroots advocates. Grassroots advocates are the backbone of the Health Center Movement, and every year we honor the standouts who work diligently to press the case for affordable care and community health.  This year’s awards presentation focused on the advocates who helped secure action to end the funding cliff crisis in 2018.  The awardees are:
