Employees at Community Health Center, Inc. in Middletown, CT understand the high risks that come with childhood obesity and are playing a vital role in trying to combat this, as well as educate the youth in the community. A local NBC news station recently aired a segment spotlighting the health center and its creative way of educating the youth. The local farmers market has joined forces with the health center by allowing kids enrolled in a summer program to buy fresh produce instead of junk food and sweets with (wooden) tokens that the health center has given them. Health center employees are hopeful that this initiative will teach kids the importance of eating healthy.
