It was only natural that Unity Health Care’s President and CEO Vince Keane had a front row seat to history last week during President Obama’s historic address to a Joint Session of Congress. Keane was among the distinguished guests invited to accompany The First Lady Michelle Obama to attend the Presidential Address on Health Care Reform. The invitation came after Mrs. Obama visited Unity Health Care’s Upper Cardozo Health Center last June to gain her own front seat perspective on the front lines of public health. The First Lady also unveiled $851 million in grants to renovate and make equipment upgrades to the 40-year-old facilty.
“It was a true honor and a privilege to receive an invitation of this magnitude,” said Keane. “It is obvious that President Obama envisions Community Health Centers as playing a key role in health care reform in ensuring health care access for millions of uninsured.”
The President also reaffirmed the committment of the role of health centers in a brief one-on-one meeting with Keane following the address. You can learn more from Unity’s press release.
