Health centers across the nation have been quite busy celebrating National Health Center Week (NHCW), and while they have opened their doors to their local communities offering free health care screenings and career fairs, they have also welcomed many lawmakers to come and join in on the fun.
Here is a list of Lawmakers that have visited and/or celebrated with Community Health Centers during NHCW:
Rep. Linda Sanchez paid a visit to AltaMed Medical Clinic in Montebello, CA to tour its facilities and celebrate its extended hours and additional services.
Rep. John Larson delivered exciting news to the Community Health Center Association of Connecticut (CHCACT) announcing that they have been awarded $750,000 in federal funding to provide a range of services to infants, children, youth and women affected by the HIV/AIDS virus.
Rep. John Tierney visited the Lynn Veterans Clinic in Lynn, Mass. where he had an opportunity to meet with staff and volunteers and speak on the importance of providing quality care to our veterans.
Thanks to an announcement made by Senators Jay Rockefeller and Joe Manchin, Community Health Centers in Wirt and Pendleton counties in West Virginia will receive grants totaling more than $1 million to will help with improving access to care.
U.S. Senator Kay Hagan visited and toured the Minnie Jones Health Center in Asheville, N.C. She expressed, “In this tough economy, our community health centers are more important than ever… I will continue working with our health centers to expand access to health care services in North Carolina and around the country.”
Rep. Raul M. Grijalva is set to deliver a keynote address at the Sunset Community Health Center in San Luis, Ariz. on August 11, 2012.
