Closing from Senator Sanders:
Senator Sanders closed the hearing thanking Senator Harkin, the Committee, and the panelists for their commitment.
He finished by saying that, as a country,we are wasting hundreds of billions of dollars to keep people unhealthy and deny them access to health care. But there is now bipartisan agreement we need to support and grow our successful programs, like the Health Center Program and the National Health Service Corps, to ensure access to comprehensive health care for all.
And a Follow-Up Press Release from Senator Kennedy, who could not be here, stressing the importance of access to primary care services – to improve the health of our communities, to drive our local economies, and to find and generate savings in the health system.
“We need nothing less than a revolution in health care.” — Sen. Sanders
