Late last week, Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius announced $19 million in New Access Point (NAP) awards as well as $48 million in base grant adjustments for FY 2013. The $19 million was originally expected to fund 25 NAPs however, HHS was able to fund additional awards for a total of 32, which are expected to increase access to care to more than 130,000 additional patients. The $48 million in base grant adjustments are the first of their kind since 2009 and will support ongoing operations and quality improvements activities.
