Giving kids something to smile is what keeps health centers busy during the national Give Kids A Smile campaign, sponsored by the American Dental Association during the month of February. In Orlando, FLA, Community Health Centers, Inc. provided free oral health screenings and oral health education, and goodie bags with toothbrushes, toothpaste, floss, stickers, pencils and erasers in their goodie bags to low-income kids. In Colorado Springs, CO, Peak Vista Community Health Centers celebrated National Give Kids A Smile day on February 1st for the fourth year in a row. The health center provided 22 children who would not otherwise have access to a dentist with dental treatments.
“It was amazing seeing the kids’ new smiles after receiving their dental treatments,” said Dr. James Kuhar, Vice President of Dental at Peak Vista Community Health Centers.
Give Kids A Smile is an annual centerpiece to National Children’s Dental Health Month and is observed every year on the first Friday in February.
