As fall slowly but surely approaches, people around the country will be waiting in long lines for several vaccinations including flu shots. Thanks to CVS Caremark and Direct Relief USA, uninsured patients will also be able to get flu shots – free of charge. CVS Caremark announced that they will partner with Direct Relief USA to provide $5 million in free flu shots to uninsured patients of Community Health Centers and Health Clinics beginning September 20, 2010.
According to a press release, CVS Caremark and Direct Relief USA will distribute redeemable vouchers to participating health centers and clinics for their uninsured patients to use at various CVS/Pharmacy’s or MinuteClinic’s. Malvise Scott, Senior Vice President of Partnership and Resource Development for the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) said the following,
“We appreciate CVS Caremark’s free flu shot donation to uninsured patients of community health centers. This is certainly an example of a partnership that provides support for safety net providers and the patients they serve.”
Participating clinics and health centers will be announced September 20, 2010.
