The Hartford Courant in Connecticut reported on funding for nurse practitioner training at Community Health Center Inc. that will enable CHC to implement formally a first-of-its-kind program.
[$225,000], part of a bill that President Barack Obama recently signed, will help the health center formally implement an intensive, 12-month residency program for nurse practitioners who want to become primary-care providers, said Margaret Flinter, the health center’s vice president and clinical director.
The center launched the program — the first of its kind in the nation — in 2007 because of the demand for nurse practitioners at federally qualified health centers, Flinter said.
