Today CMS released the notice of proposed rule making on the development of the Accountable Care Organizations. Created in the Affordable Care Act, ACOs are provider-led organizations whose members engage in joint decision-making, and that manages the full continuum of care and is held accountable for the overall costs and quality of care for a defined population.
Roger Schwartz and I are currently reviewing the proposed regs and will be providing an analysis and comments. In the meantime, please see NACHC’s previous comments on ACOs and our principles statement on ACOs and the proposed rule for more information and stay tuned for more on NACHC’s analysis and comments.
