NACHC has launched a groundbreaking Community Health Vote campaign to encourage and assist America’s Health Centers in developing and implementing programs to educate their patients and their families about public policy issues that impact them. The goal of the campaign is to boost health centers’ ability to initiate positive changes in and around communities where they are located through civic engagement and advocacy. The Community Health Vote campaign, part of a broader effort among nonprofits to galvanize civic engagement for the 2008 elections, was front and center at a meeting of National Non Profits in Washington this week. Marc Wetherhorn, NACHC’s National Advocacy Director was featured on a panel that focused on health centers and their potential impact on voter empowerment. The event was hosted by the Non Profit Voter Engagement Network. Also on the panel were representatives of Independent Sector , the National Council of Nonprofit Associations and OhioVOTES.
