Were you on the most recent Low Income Open Door Forum? If not, you missed some important updates from CMS and HRSA, including an update on the development of the Medicare PPS. As we’ve mentioned before (see our previous blogs here, here, here and here, the ACA includes a provision to create a new Medicare reimbursement structure and CMS is currently in the process of developing that new structure. On the call, they noted that they hope to have a proposed rule out soon and reminded listeners that the HCPCS codes that health centers have been required to submit since January 2011 are critically important to the development of this system. Please make sure that your centers are submitting the proper codes with all of their Medicare claims and please don’t hesitate to let us know if you have any questions or are having any issues with the submission of these claims.
And also be sure to call in for the next Low Income Door Open Forum, which will be held in early September. They are a great resource for health centers and PCAs to learn about important updates and to ask both CMS and HRSA questions. You can find more information here.
