CMS Health Insurance Marketplace Website Provides Resources to Help Patients Get Coverage by 2014

Picture3The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has released materials aimed at helping individuals and small business navigate the new Health Insurance Marketplace established by the Affordable Care Act (ACA). CMS is asking organizations, like Community Health Centers, to visit the Health Insurance Marketplace to get updates, research, news, and official resources—in 11 languages including Spanish—that can “help people apply, enroll, and get coverage by 2014.” Organizations can also sign-up to get updates on the Marketplace by visiting the site.

On the resources page of the website organizations will find:

  • Learn More about Health Insurance Market PlacePublications and articles on the Marketplace, value of health insurance, small business options, and awareness;
  • Training materials that provide an overview of the Health Insurance Marketplace including a video presentation and downloadable PowerPoint presentation;
  • Widgets and badges that can be included on websites that takes visitors to the HealthCare.gov site where they learn more about what ACA means for them.

Organizations will also find a research section that includes talking points they access to help them talk to patients and others about the Health Insurance Market place.

CMS is also asking organizations to encourage patients to visit the Healthcare.gov site and sign-up for text and email alerts about the Marketplace to keep up with important updates and information.
